About DESKWORK

DESKWORK is made a reality by its talented people — here's the story behind the name and the founding of the studio.

Founder Q&A

So you served in the US armed forces?

Yes, I was in the Navy. I served as a Master at Arms — LE and counter-terrorism specialist.

What got you so interested in game development?

My original dream was to be a comic book artist. I later considered film would be a better medium for mass impact, but settled on gaming after I read a statistic that said games got over 100x the time and investment by players — meaning if I wanted to build worlds people could experience and explore fully, gaming was the right way to go.

Why “DESKWORK” — where’d the name come from?

In elementary school, me and my best friend were constantly creating our own card games, characters, and comic books at our all-in-one chair desks. Hence “Desk Work” was born.

What drives your approach to games and design?

I love video games — games in general. I believe perhaps the most important element of the experience of games is the will to power: the drive to master the digital world, in terms of understanding its story’s depth and its mechanical nuances, up to and past the point of victory.

How are you using AI, or how does AI and upcoming tech factor into your development?

DESKWORK embraces AI tools with human direction, keeping player experience the foremost focus. We believe AI is a tool, not a replacement — one we work to harmonize with, so we can build better games.
